The numbers came up as 2, 49, 72, 19, 23, 46 with the Jolly number 71 and SuperStar number 88. Only one player matched six numbers to win the top prize and can now call themselves a multi-millionaire! However, another player came very close by matching five numbers plus the Jolly number - picking up over half a million as a result!
The jackpot winning ticket was sold in a local tobacconist in Desenzano del Garda, in the province of Brescia. The owner of the store, Eleonora Bocchio, was eager to share her excitement about the win, by stating:
“I am very happy, I found out about the 6 in the SuperEnalotto last night around 9.30pm, 10pm and I must say that the emotion was really very strong. I hope that the money goes to someone in the country who needs it".
“If this person showed up to give us a gift or simply to thank us, even without revealing his identity, we are here. This morning, before arriving at work, I bought the pastries to celebrate with everyone, we are really excited".
It is not the first time that the store had seen some fortune as previously a scratch card player won up to $10,000. However, nothing quite so momentous had happened before.
Perhaps Lake Garda is a lucky region as it was not too long ago that the SuperEnalotto jackpot was won in Riva de Garda - a resort in Lake Garda's northern shore.
