SuperEnalotto Smashes Record For Europe’s Biggest-Ever Jackpot

SuperEnalotto Smashes Record For Europe’s Biggest-Ever Jackpot

The current SuperEnalotto jackpot is now the largest prize to have ever been offered by any European lottery, after exceeding the sum of €190 million. As there is no cap on how high the jackpot can grow, it could now be set to surpass €200 million for the first time in history.

SuperEnalotto reached an all-time high at the end of June when, after a year of rollovers, the jackpot eclipsed the former record of €177.7 million. On that occasion, back in October 2010, a syndicate of 70 players ended up winning with a ticket bought in Milan.

Now, following a few more draws without a winner, the jackpot is not just the biggest ever seen in Italy but also anywhere in Europe. The top prize had been worth €188.9 million for the draw on Tuesday 16th July, but another rollover has pushed it up to €190.4 million for the next game on Thursday.

Jackpots are Capped in EuroMillions

EuroMillions had previously been able to boast the greatest jackpots in Europe, propelled by high ticket sales in nine participating countries. However, the top prize in EuroMillions can only reach a maximum of €190 million before it is capped.

That has happened three times in the past: first in August 2012 and most recently in October 2017, when a Spanish ticket holder snared the full €190 million. The rules of EuroMillions dictate that any funds which would normally go to the jackpot are diverted to the second prize tier once the €190 million mark has been hit.

The Eurojackpot cap is €90 million and Vikinglotto - a multi-national lottery played in nine countries primarily in northern Europe - can only reach a maximum of €35 million. There have been other huge jackpots offered by national lotteries throughout Europe over the years, but nothing to compared to the current SuperEnalotto prize.

Potential for SuperEnalotto to Keep Growing

The SuperEnalotto jackpot will continue to rise until at least one ticket matches all six main numbers, so the current record has the potential to keep breaking new ground with high ticket sales and more rollovers.

It is also the largest lottery prize up for grabs anywhere in the world at the moment, making it an appealing option for fans all over the globe. You don’t even have to be in Italy or planning a trip there to take part, as you can play SuperEnalotto from outside Italy right now. Lottery concierge services and betting sites allow you to enjoy the game online and guarantee that you can win all the same prizes as someone buying a ticket in Italy.

You have to be in it to win it, of course, and you can now give yourself a chance of becoming Europe’s record holder by playing SuperEnalotto ahead of the next draw. Good luck!
